Shift Robotics is thrilled to announce the release of ShiftOS 2.1, featuring a host of upgrades designed to enhance your Moonwalker experience. We're taking Moonwalkers to the next level with enhanced gait detection, ensuring a smoother, safer, and more personalized walking experience. One of the most exciting additions in this update is the new Calibration Mode (CALIB), which promises to deliver a more personalized and optimized walking experience. Here’s what’s new in ShiftOS 2.1:
Update 1: Enhanced Gait Detection for Smoother Rides
We've significantly improved gait detection, making it more accurate and robust—especially on uneven terrain. This enhancement reduces false detections by 83% and eliminates sudden stops due to missed gait motion. The result? A smoother, more natural walking experience with better acceleration and deceleration control.
For added safety, ShiftOS 2.1 now detects abnormal walking patterns in any mode. If an issue is detected, your Moonwalkers will decelerate to zero speed and alert you with 13 Red LED blinks, ensuring immediate attention to potential hazards.
Update 2: Introducing Calibration Mode
What’s Calibration Mode All About?
Calibration Mode lets you tweak your Moonwalkers to match your unique walking style. This means smoother, more accurate performance tailored just for you. Whether you’re strolling on uneven terrain or just going about your day, Calibration Mode ensures your Moonwalkers keep up with you perfectly.
Getting Started with Calibration Mode
Activating Calibration Mode is a breeze:
- Simply extend your left foot ahead and lift your toes up.
- Hold this position for about 3 seconds until LEDs flash Cyan, and then put your toe back down.
Calibrating Your Moonwalkers
Once you’re in CALIB mode, here’s what you need to do:
- The wheels will stay locked at all times in this mode. Take around 12-15 steps at your usual pace.
- When the LEDs switch from flashing to solid Cyan, you’re all set.
- Now, you need to switch back to LOCK mode before you can enjoy your newly calibrated SHIFT or TRAINING modes.
Need to recalibrate? No problem – just repeat the steps above. It’s important to use your own walking pattern for the best results.
Need to reset to system default? Just enter CALIB mode and keep your toes up for more than 6 sec until LEDs turn solid Cyan and you're back to default.
Update 3: New Error Codes for Better Troubleshooting
To support this new mode, we've added:
- ✅ 12 Red LED blinks – Bad Calibration
- ✅ 13 Red LED blinks – Other Errors
Experience a more responsive and tailored walking experience with ShiftOS 2.1!
